Wedding dresses are a pain. Maybe its because I was such a tomboy as a kid but there is something about dress shopping that its terribly daunting to me. All the beading, lace, sparkles, and crazy sales ladies shoving cheap champagne in my face freak me out.
However, recently I have been stumbling upon quite a few lovely dresses and its actually becoming hard to choose what to go try on. I've also finally narrowed it down to generally what I am looking for.... actually, I think the list is more comprised of what I am NOT looking for in my mind:)
I do know that I generally want not beading or lace to begin with - just simple, beautiful fabric that speaks for itself. Secondly, a basic neckline. I'm not looking for flowers or cut outs to top off my boobs, they are going to be shoved in as it is. Simple spaghetti straps or even strapless would be nice. Third, I think I narrowed it down to a full skirt below. Not quite ballroom, I'm not a lost aristocrat but definitely some fullness. Finally, I've decided I must have pockets. My tomboy-ness has came out again!
Here is some great recent finds and current contenders:
Almsale's Reese dress: It's apparently in 27 Dresses which I now need to watch. I love the simple silver peak of fabric in the front and just the basic, simple style.
J Crew is making some amazing dresses right now! This one is currently sold out as of last week so I am hoping it comes back in stock. The shape is great and I love that the fabric is textured. It looks like beautiful old paper almost. It also has my delightful pockets :)
Well, that's it for now. I'm still on the hunt!
What are your favorite styles?

You and my fiance are both looking for a dress. The J Crew dresses are really nice. From a photographers opinion (I'm a wedding photographer) less is more!
